As music fans from the 60s are aware of the unfortunate loss of our great Friend and
fellow Musician DOZY who passed away in January 2015.
But with Dozys wife Yvonne giving the Band her Blessing we’ve reformed the band with Paul Cornwell on Bass. Paul has been on the Sixties circuit for a number of years playing with Probands. So welcome Paul to the Band.
I'm sad to say Jolyon has now left the band due to work commitments with other Musical Projects but Dozy Beaky Mick & Tich wish him all the best for the future.
The time we had on the road with Jolyon was great fun GOOD LUCK Jo.
The New Member of the Band is Local Talented Guitarist Chris Moores
Chris started playing the guitar in school, formed his first band at age 16yrs serving his apprenticeship with various local bands, working all over the UK.
At age 19, Chris was invited to join Pye recording Artistes ‘Tuesday’ (vocalist/songwriter Rod Trott) releasing two singles with Pye records. They toured the UK college circuit, both in their own right and with many top bands, including Steely Dan, Status Quo, Wishbone Ash, Suzy Quattro, 10cc, Procol Harum, Ten Years After, Richie Havens, Judas Priest, The Average White band, Supertramp, Thin Lizzy and many many more.
They also toured extensively in Europe, with many lengthy tours in Germany, Holland and Italy.
Tuesday also played frequently at many prestigious London clubs of the time, notably, the Marquee and the Speakeasy.
Since the early 90’s Chris has been teaching electric and contemporary guitar at the prestigious Winchester College, and playing with high-quality pub bands The Rock Doctors and until recently, The highly regarded The Cellarats. Chris retired from teaching in September 2020, allowing him the time and good fortune to join up with the inimitable DBM&T. Welcome Chris and enjoy the ride with Dozy Beaky Mick & Tich.
Brief History of the Band.
If you can Remember the Sixties
it was a decade when Music changed with Bands like the Beatles, Stones, Hollies,Kinks etc etc...
A Band who were known for there very colourful stage Gear and inventive style
was a Band called Dave Dee Dozy Beaky Mick & Tich.
Between December 1965 and May 1969 when Dave Dee left the Group
DBM&T spent a Sensational 141 weeks in the UK charts with 13 Major Hit Singles
With Sell Out Tour's of Australia New Zealand Japan and Europe.
1966 was a Vintage year for Dave Dee Dozy Beaky Mick & Tich
having charted 5 Top Ten singles which rewarded the Band with over 50 weeks
in the chart's of that year.
To think it could not get any better for the boys from Wiltshire there success gained
more momentum with the African sounding Drums of a song called Zabadak which
charted for 14 weeks at Number 3 followed up with Okay at number 4 for 11 weeks
and with Touch me Touch me.
But the biggest accolade for Dave Dee Dozy Beaky Mick & Tich
was receiving the GOLDEN OTTO award in Germany .
Germany being the 3rd largest record purchasing nation in the World.
The Silver was taken by the Beach Boys and the Bronze by the Stones.
To be a Musician in the Sixties or being a Musician of today was and still
is to have Number one success.
This was achieved for Dave Dee Dozy Beaky Mick & Tich early in 68
with the influwence of Spanish culture depicted in the song and
the sounding of flamenco guitars and the cracking from a whip.
The Legend of Xanadu was born and became a number 1 hit charting for
12 weeks.
Following Dave Dee's departure in 69 Dozy Beaky Mick & Tich were to follow up
with a new album called Fresh Air from which came the single Mr President.
The 70s and 80s saw extensive tours of Europe, New Zealand and the Middle East
also doing recording projects in studios.
Late 80s Dozy Beaky Mick & Tich decided to stop gigging on the road,
and opened a Sixties bar in Puerto Banus near Marbella.
Entertaining the rich and famous.
After a period of two years away from the UK they decided to go back home
and started touring.
To this presant day Dozy Beaky Mick & Tich are still Touring in Europe
and the UK .
Their much praised stage performance is as dynamic as ever and truly
one of the best if not the best Vocal band to come out of the Sixties era.
To Believe is to See!!
Chart Success..
